Time to Photo Walk the outskirts of Souq Waqif (40 Mins)

Here’s a quick photo walk for you from Souq Waqif. If you find yourself in the souq with a spare 40 minuets on your hands. That’s enough time to get these great photos with just a little walking. You’ll get one of the best photo’s of the ‘West Bay Skyline’, the iconic ‘Pearl Monument’, Dhow Boats, Camels and Falcons. In as little as 40 minuets.


Please make sure you cross from the Souq to the Corniche using the underpass. You’ll find it next to the big TAXI sign.

Start by using the Underpass from Souq Waqif to the Corniche.

There is no sign to tell you where this is. So use the link bellow for a Google Maps Pin. Look for the large TAXI sign, and then walk down the ramp.

Once you are at the bottom of the ramp go through the doors and turn right. Now walk straight ahead through the car park. At the end of the car park ‘walk way’, turn left through the doors and down the escalator stairs. Walk straight ahead and then into the elevators. Press G.

The Pearl Monument

When you pop up on the other side of the road, you will immediately see the Pearl Monument located at the entrance to Dhow Harbour. Grab some great images and then walk inside Dhow Harbour towards the West Bay skyline.

Day or night, this location offers one of the best photo opportunities of the West Bay skyline. It takes 15 minutes to walk here from Souq Waqif.

Next we’re going to walk back to the underpass located at the Pearl Monument. But there are some more great photo opportunities of the Museum of Islamic Art and the Dhow boats literally everywhere around you.

The Underpass from the Corniche to Souq Waqif

Now we’re going to walk back to the underpass located next to the ‘Pearl Monument’. Use the underpass to get back to Souq Waqif. After you have walked back up the ramp from the underpass, turn right and walk parallel to the road. It’s just a 4 minuet walk to the Camel Pen.

You surly can’t come to Qatar without getting some photo’s of some camels. These camels will give you plenty of great images to take home with you. But please be aware, they bite!

The Falcon Souq

After the camels comes the falcons. Be aware that the Falcon Souq does close for a siesta every afternoon between 12 noon and 4 or 5pm.

When open, the Falcon Hospital welcomes visitors to pop inside to take a look. They even have a falcon museum for you to look around.

Then it’s back to the heart of Souq Waqif. This photo walk ends at the The Golden Thumb. Now it’s time for you to grab something nice to eat and drink.
