One to watch.
A scientist trains a man with an advanced telepathic ability called “scanning” to stop a dangerous Scanner with extraordinary psychic powers from waging war against non-Scanners.
The exploding head scene in Scanners is what brought this movie the attention of audiences watching its trailer. The movie is notable for some excellent, advanced (non CGI) special effects, and also some verging on amateur special effects. Both ends of the special effects spectrum.
A good story line, which leaves us expecting more. But we never get given a sequel.
Scanners was my (and indeed most peoples) introduction to the exceedingly talented Michael Ironside.
