How to use the Metro. The cheapest way to get from Hamad International Airport to the souq (market) for a bit of shopping and a chance to grab something delicious to eat. And a chance for you to explore all that Souq Waqif has to offer. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the architecture, and the people.

When you exit customs at HIA, take the elevators on your right and go to the 1st Floor
When you exit the elevator on the 1st Floor, turn left and walk across the pedestrian bridge
Keep walking straight ahead, you will see signs for the Metro, follow these
When you arrive at the end of the bridge, you will see elevators. Take these to Floor -1
Exit the elevator and walk straight ahead until you reach the Travel Card machines
Buy a Day Pass for QAR 6 (there are always plenty of helpful staff to assist you here)
Tap your Day Pass at the turnstile and head down to the platform
Trains terminate at this station, so you can only go in one direction. It’s impossible to get on the wrong train at this point.
You are on the Red Line, after 5 stops you will need to exit at Msheireb and change to the Gold Line
When you arrive at Msheieb Station you will need to go down to the Gold Line platform going to Ras Bu Abboud
Take the first train that comes along. You are travelling to the very next station – Souq Waqif
When you arrive at Souq Waqif go up one floor and follow the signs to Souq
There is quite a distance to walk while still underground. Just keep following the signs for Souq
Eventually you will come to the escalator taking you up and into the Souq
When you arrive at ground level, walk straight ahead. Turn left at the police station and the Golden Thumb will be there right in front of you
